Cast like a church bell...
The Shell
It is our belief that it is always easier to tame a resonant drum rather than try and make a dead shell ring and to this end, Provenance shells are sand cast just like a church bell.
After lengthy trials, the 'basic' Provenance shell is a straight walled design. The drums are lathed on the outside to give a perfectly round and smooth outer shell. The inside is left rough from the casting to allow the internal reflections to break up more easily, resulting in a drier sound but still with body and resonance.
The bearing edges have a completely rounded Vintage edge. As the shell projects so well, a sharper bearing edge was not needed.
The snare bed is modelled on a vintage pattern.
